AKS Rod Price in Bangladesh Today: Per KG, Per Ton, Grade and Buying Guide
Are you checking the AKS rod price in Bangladesh today before purchasing steel for a house, apartment, commercial building or infrastructure project? The number you see online is only the starting point. Your final cost may change with the steel grade, bar diameter, order volume, delivery location, unloading arrangement, dealer margin and the validity period of the quotation. A price without these details is like a building plan without dimensions: it looks useful, but you cannot safely build a budget around it.
This guide explains the current public price reference for AKS rod, converts the rate from per ton to per kilogram, and shows how to estimate the landed cost of different order quantities. It also explains AKS TMT B500DWR, relevant quality documents, bar markings and the checks a buyer should complete before making payment. FAR-MAC STEEL has prepared the guide for contractors, engineers, developers, procurement teams and individual buyers who want a clearer way to compare price, grade and commercial terms.
Price notice: Steel prices can change within a day. The figures below are dated public-market references, not a binding offer from AKS, an AKS dealer or FAR-MAC STEEL. Confirm the grade, diameter, stock, VAT, transport, unloading and quotation validity with the seller before paying.
AKS Rod Price Today
The clearest short answer is that public marketplace results reviewed on 13 October 2026 showed AKS TMT B500DWR references of approximately ৳83,000–৳87,500 per metric ton, equal to about ৳83–৳87.50 per kg. The listings were not fully consistent, so treat the range as an online reference rather than a confirmed AKS rate. It may also exclude unloading, additional transport, tax or handling.
The wider market shows why buyers need a dated quotation. A March 2026 report placed AKS at about ৳92,500 per ton during a sharp increase. The difference reflects how quickly scrap cost, freight, demand and stock can move the rod price in Bangladesh today. For procurement, use the fully itemised rate confirmed for your quantity, location and delivery date.
Dated Price Table
The table below separates the online reference from the costs that can change the payable amount. It gives buyers a transparent calculation point without presenting a temporary internet listing as a guaranteed factory or dealer quotation.
| Price item | Indicative rate reviewed 11 October 2026 | How to interpret it |
| Public AKS TMT B500DWR results | ৳83–৳87.50 per kg | Approximate conversion of conflicting online listing results |
| Public AKS TMT B500DWR results | ৳83,000–৳87,500 per metric ton | Indicative range; confirm stock and commercial terms |
| Historical AKS market reference, 12 March 2026 | About ৳92,500 per ton | Shows price volatility during a reported market rise |
| Delivery and unloading | Variable | Depends on district, vehicle, site access and responsibility |
| VAT, tax or other charges | Confirm in writing | Ask whether each charge is included in the quoted rate |
| Final landed cost | Quotation required | Product price plus every applicable project-site cost |
These figures should be updated whenever the page is refreshed. A useful AKS rod price today page needs a visible review date, a named reference method and a warning that the final commercial offer can change. Without those elements, even a correct price can become outdated before a buyer reaches the dealer.
For a broader market view, readers can check FAR-MAC STEEL’s all rod price guide for Bangladesh. Use that pillar page for multi-brand market context. Use this page when the search and procurement intent is specifically Abul Khair Steel price in Bangladesh.
Per KG Rate
Based on the reviewed public results, the indicative AKS rod price BD today range is ৳83–৳87.50 per kg. Divide the per-ton rate by 1,000 because one metric ton equals 1,000 kilograms. Therefore, ৳83,000 ÷ 1,000 = ৳83 per kg, while ৳87,500 ÷ 1,000 = ৳87.50 per kg.
Do not assume that every small retail purchase will be billed at exactly that converted rate. A dealer may apply handling, cutting, short-quantity transport or local delivery charges. The effective per-kg price for 100 kg delivered to a narrow urban site can be higher than the effective rate for a full-truck order. Ask the seller to show the base product rate and additional charges separately.
Per Ton Rate
The indicative public range reviewed for this guide is ৳83,000–৳87,500 per metric ton for AKS TMT B500DWR results. When buyers search for AKS steel price per ton today in Bangladesh, this is the most useful comparison unit because every offer can be assessed on the same 1,000 kg basis.
However, “per ton” does not automatically mean “delivered per ton.” One quotation may include delivery to Dhaka but exclude unloading, while another may be an ex-depot or mill-gate rate. A lower headline figure can produce a higher final bill when transport and handling are added. Compare the landed price, not just the first number on the quotation.
Price Source and Update Method
This article reviews public AKS listings, credible Bangladesh market reporting and the official Abul Khair Steel website. The method separates a seller’s temporary price from stable product and grade information.
The online reference came from a public AKS TMT B500DWR listing. The Business Standard documented an AKS rate of around ৳92,500 per ton during a March 2026 increase. Official AKS pages confirm B500DWR and other grades but do not show a live nationwide rate, so a dated seller quotation remains the final commercial evidence.
Location and Delivery Conditions
Location can change the payable price even when the base rate is unchanged. A delivery to central Dhaka, Chattogram or a major depot area may use an established route and a full truck. A project in Sylhet, Rangpur, Barishal or a remote upazila may require longer transport, route changes or smaller vehicles. Fuel cost, tolls, ferry movement, bridge restrictions and site access can all affect the landed rate.
Before confirming an order, give the seller the exact delivery address, required tonnage, preferred delivery date, bar diameters and unloading arrangement. Ask whether the truck can enter the site road and whether labour or a crane is required. A written answer prevents the common last-minute dispute in which the buyer thought delivery was included but the seller priced only transport to a nearby point.
What Is AKS Rod?
AKS rod is reinforcing steel produced and marketed by Abul Khair Steel in Bangladesh. In everyday construction language, buyers may call it rod, rebar, TMT bar or deformed steel bar. Its main job is to reinforce concrete, which performs well under compression but needs steel to handle tensile forces. Together, concrete and rebar work like a team: one resists crushing, while the other helps control pulling, bending and cracking forces.
The term “AKS rod” covers more than one possible grade and product condition. Buyers should not approve steel based only on the brand name. The structural drawing, bar bending schedule and project specification must identify the required grade, diameter and standard. The purchase order should repeat those details so that the delivered construction steel matches the engineer’s design.
Abul Khair Steel and the AKS Brand
Abul Khair Steel is part of the wider Abul Khair business group and operates the AKS steel brand. The official brand page states that AKS was introduced in 2009 and now includes a portfolio of reinforcing bars such as B420DWR, B500CWR, B500DWR, B600C-R, B600D-R and B700C-R. This portfolio matters because a brand name alone does not define the mechanical properties of every bar it sells.
The company also states that it pioneered Electric Arc Furnace production for high-performance reinforcement steel in Bangladesh. For a buyer, the useful takeaway is not the marketing label itself. It is the need to match the ordered grade with the bundle tag, mill test certificate and physical bar marking. The document trail should connect the product, heat or batch and declared test results.
TMT B500DWR and Relevant Product Terms
AKS TMT B500DWR is a thermo-mechanically treated reinforcing bar grade. “B500” generally identifies a specified characteristic yield-strength class of 500 MPa under the applicable product standard. The letters communicate additional grade characteristics defined by that standard or manufacturer specification, including ductility and weldability-related performance. Buyers should read the current specification rather than guessing from the letters alone.
TMT describes a controlled heating and cooling process used during rolling to develop a strong outer region and a tougher, more ductile core. DWR is commonly associated with a deformed, weldable rebar class with enhanced ductility. Those properties can support demanding reinforced-concrete work, but only the project engineer should approve the exact grade. Do not replace one grade with another because the nominal diameter appears identical.
Common Construction Applications
AKS rebar may be specified for foundations, columns, beams, slabs, shear walls, stairs and other reinforced-concrete elements. These components appear in a reinforced concrete building, apartment building, school, hospital, warehouse, bridge approach or commercial development. The correct diameter and spacing depend on the structural design and loading, not on a general rule from a seller.
In multi-storey construction, the rebar schedule may combine several diameters for different structural elements. Larger bars may be used in heavily loaded columns or foundations, while smaller bars can serve slabs, stirrups or secondary reinforcement. Even when one brand supplies the full order, the engineer and site team must verify each bundle before fabrication, bending and placement.
Factors Affecting AKS Steel Price
Steel pricing is a moving chain, not a fixed shelf label. It passes through metallic inputs, energy, melting, refining, rolling, finance, storage and distribution. A change at any stage can affect the AKS rod price.
Demand also matters. Active construction and infrastructure procurement can tighten stock, while slower periods may increase seller competition. An old invoice is therefore not a reliable price source for today, even for the same brand and grade.
Raw Material and EAF Production Inputs
Electric Arc Furnace steelmaking commonly uses ferrous scrap and other approved iron-bearing inputs. Electric arcs melt the charge into molten steel, which is refined, cast and rolled. International scrap prices, shipping rates and input availability can therefore move production costs.
A modern EAF steelmaking process uses charge control, temperature monitoring, sampling, slag practice and secondary metallurgy to achieve target chemistry. “Scrap-based” does not mean uncontrolled; quality depends on the complete steelmaking and testing system.
Electricity, Fuel and Exchange Rate
An EAF requires substantial electrical power. Rolling mills, reheating systems, oxygen, water-cooling equipment, cranes, compressors and dust-control systems also consume energy. When electricity or fuel becomes more expensive, the cost pressure can pass through the steel supply chain. Unplanned power constraints may also affect production scheduling and stock availability.
Bangladesh imports important raw materials, equipment, spares and services connected to steelmaking. Exchange-rate movement can therefore influence replacement cost even when the product is manufactured locally. Freight, port charges and international market conditions add another layer. Together, these factors explain why steel price Bangladesh searches can show different rates within a short period.
Order Size, Location and Dealer Margin
A full-truck or project-volume order usually has a different cost structure from a few bundles purchased at retail. Large orders may qualify for a better base rate or more efficient transport per ton. Small orders may carry extra depot handling, local vehicle or short-load charges. This does not automatically mean the small-order seller is overcharging; it may reflect a genuinely higher delivery cost per unit.
Dealer margin and credit terms also matter. A cash or advance-payment quotation can differ from a rate that includes a longer payment period. Stock purchased by the dealer at an earlier price may be sold differently from newly replenished material. Always compare payment terms, product origin, delivery responsibility and invoice quality alongside the headline price.
Grade and Diameter
Different construction steel grades meet different property requirements. The engineer may specify B500DWR or another grade based on the design code, structural analysis and detailing. Price should never justify an unapproved substitution.
Diameter affects availability, bundle composition and fulfilment. Some sellers offer one rate across common sizes, while others use size-specific conditions. List every required diameter and quantity in the quotation request to avoid a vague blended rate.
Calculate AKS Rod Cost
Price calculation becomes easy when every unit is consistent. Multiply the confirmed per-kg or per-ton rate by the required quantity, then add costs excluded from the base rate.
Calculate project quantity from the bar bending schedule and apply only the approved waste allowance. Do not rely on floor-area estimates when an engineered schedule exists. FAR-MAC STEEL’s rod weight calculator guide explains the method.
Per-KG to Per-Ton Formula
Use the following conversion when a seller provides only one unit:
Price per kg = Price per metric ton ÷ 1,000
Price per metric ton = Price per kg × 1,000
If the quoted rate is ৳83,000 per ton, the calculated rate is ৳83 per kg. If a future quote is ৳91 per kg, the equivalent is ৳91,000 per ton. This direct equation helps buyers compare a retail per-kg quote with a bulk per-ton offer without mixing units.
For an individual bar, calculate the bar’s theoretical weight first and multiply it by the per-kg rate. A common estimating formula for a round reinforcing bar is weight in kg per metre = d² ÷ 162, where d is the nominal diameter in millimetres. Use this for estimation and check the delivered weight, standard tolerance and invoice basis before payment.
Cost for 500 KG, 1 Ton, 10 Tons and 25 Tons
Using an illustrative rate of ৳83 per kg, the base material calculations are as follows. This sample uses the lower public listing reference for easy calculation; it is not a current binding offer and excludes every charge not included in the product rate.
| Order quantity | Formula at ৳83/kg | Indicative base material cost |
| 500 kg | 500 × ৳83 | ৳41,500 |
| 1 metric ton | 1,000 × ৳83 | ৳83,000 |
| 10 metric tons | 10 × ৳83,000 | ৳830,000 |
| 25 metric tons | 25 × ৳83,000 | ৳2,075,000 |
The table demonstrates why a small change in the rate matters on a large order. A movement of only ৳2 per kg changes a 25-ton purchase by ৳50,000. For that reason, large buyers should request a written price-validity period, clarify whether the order is locked after payment and record any rules for split delivery.
Add Transport, VAT and Handling
The landed-cost formula is:
Landed cost = Base steel cost + transport + unloading + handling + applicable VAT/tax + finance or other agreed charges
Suppose 10 tons cost ৳830,000 at the base rate, transport is ৳18,000 and unloading is ৳5,000. If no other charge applies, the provisional landed amount is ৳853,000, or ৳85.30 per kg. If VAT or another statutory charge applies, add it according to the seller’s invoice and current rules rather than using an assumed percentage.
Before accepting the quotation, use a landed-cost checklist: product and grade, diameter-wise quantities, base rate, delivery point, transport, unloading, tax treatment, payment timing, delivery date, weight basis, quotation validity and replacement procedure for non-conforming material. This single checklist can prevent most commercial misunderstandings.
AKS Rod Grade, Strength and Project Fit
Price tells you what steel costs; the specification tells you whether it belongs in the structure. A cheaper mismatched bar creates technical and contractual risk rather than savings.
Because AKS offers several grades, “AKS rod” is not a complete purchase description. State the standard, grade, diameter, length or supply form, quantity and required documents, plus any project-specific acceptance criteria.
Read the Project Specification First
Start with the structural drawings, general notes and bar bending schedule. These documents identify the required grade and reinforcement arrangement. If the drawing and commercial bill of quantities appear inconsistent, stop and ask the consultant or structural engineer to clarify. A dealer should not resolve a design conflict by choosing whichever product is available.
The specification may also refer to a Bangladesh standard, an international standard or project-specific testing. Confirm whether substitutions require written approval. This is especially important for a multi storey building, bridge, industrial facility or other structure in which strength, ductility and seismic detailing are central to the design.
Yield Strength and Ductility
Yield strength describes the stress level at which steel begins to undergo significant permanent deformation. A B500-class designation is associated with a 500 MPa characteristic yield-strength class under the relevant standard. Actual test results can be higher, but a buyer should evaluate compliance with the specified limits rather than assuming “higher is always better.” Structural design depends on controlled, predictable properties.
Ductility is the ability to deform before fracture. In earthquake-resistant design, this behaviour helps structural elements dissipate energy and provides warning before sudden failure. The official AKS materials position B500DWR as a high-strength, ductile rebar. The project team should verify the declared grade and current MTC instead of relying only on a brochure description.
Weldability and Carbon Equivalent
Weldability depends partly on chemical composition and the carbon-equivalent value. Carbon equivalent combines the influence of carbon and selected alloying elements into an indicator that helps engineers assess welding behaviour and cracking risk. The relevant product standard and welding procedure determine the acceptable approach.
The word “weldable” does not mean site workers should weld reinforcement without control. Welding may require an approved procedure, qualified personnel, suitable consumables and engineer approval. Ask for the heat-specific chemical analysis on the mill test certificate. For ordinary reinforcement connections, use the lap, coupler or welding method shown in the approved design.
Residential, Commercial and Infrastructure Uses
B500DWR may be considered for an RCC structure, apartment building, office building, shopping complex or other reinforced-concrete project when the engineer specifies and approves it. It can be used across footings, pile caps, columns, beams, slabs and walls according to the bar schedule. Correct storage, cutting, bending, spacing, cover and concrete placement remain essential.
For bridges, transport facilities, industrial foundations and major infrastructure, procurement controls are usually stricter. The project may require independent testing, approval of the manufacturer, batch traceability and inspection records. Brand familiarity is helpful, but it does not replace those project requirements. Product acceptance should follow the contract, specification and engineer’s instructions.
How to Verify AKS Rod Before Payment
Verification begins before delivery. Request the grade, standard, diameter list, quotation, seller identity and sample quality documents. Compare the bundles and invoice with those records, and isolate any material with conflicting information.
This evidence trail reduces disputes about brand, weight, grade and batch. It also prevents unverified bars from being mixed with accepted stock before cutting and installation.
Bundle Tag and Bar Marking
Check the bundle tag for the manufacturer or brand identification, grade, nominal diameter, heat or batch reference, bundle weight and other declared information. The exact tag format may vary. The key requirement is that the information is legible and can be connected to the delivery note and quality documents.
Inspect the rolled marking on sample bars from different bundles. Look for consistency in ribs, surface condition and nominal size. Do not accept a loose verbal explanation when the physical identification is unclear. Photograph the tags and markings before the bundles are opened, especially for large deliveries or projects with formal material approval records.
Mill Test Certificate
A mill test certificate, often called an MTC, reports test and production information for a specific heat, batch or delivery. It commonly includes chemical composition and mechanical properties such as yield strength, tensile strength and elongation. Depending on the grade and standard, it may include ratio, bend or rebend results and other relevant data.
Check that the MTC identifies the manufacturer, product, grade, standard, heat or batch and issue details. Match its reference to the bundle tags. An attractive certificate that cannot be linked to the delivered material is weak evidence. When the project requires independent testing, send properly sampled and witnessed specimens to an approved laboratory.
Diameter, Weight and Length Tolerance
Use a calibrated measuring tool and the applicable standard when checking diameter or dimensional characteristics. Ribbed bars are not always evaluated like a smooth circular rod, so a casual measurement at one point can mislead. The site engineer or quality team should follow the defined inspection method.
Check the supplied length, bundle weight and total delivered weight against the invoice. Use a weighbridge record where required. Compare theoretical and actual quantities while allowing only the tolerances permitted by the standard and contract. A low per-ton rate loses its value if the buyer receives less verified weight than invoiced.
Dealer and Invoice Verification
Confirm the dealer’s business identity, address, contact details and authority to sell the product. Ask for a formal quotation and tax-compliant invoice where applicable. Payment should go to the verified business account or method stated in the agreed documents, not an unexplained personal account introduced at the last minute.
The invoice should identify the brand, grade, sizes, quantity, rate, total amount and delivery conditions. Keep the quotation, payment proof, delivery challan, weight slip, bundle-tag photos and MTC together. If a quality or quantity issue appears later, this file gives the project team a practical route for investigation and resolution.
AKS vs BSRM vs KSRM vs GPH vs FAR-MAC
Buyers compare AKS with BSRM, KSRM, GPH and FAR-MAC, but the comparison must be like for like. A B500DWR delivered price cannot be fairly compared with another grade or an ex-depot rate.
This page stays focused on AKS price and procurement. For cross-brand analysis, read FAR-MAC STEEL’s BSRM vs KSRM vs GPH vs AKS, then apply the framework below to your project.
Like-for-Like Comparison Framework
Create one row for each seller and compare the same grade, standard, diameter mix, order quantity, delivery point and payment date. Add columns for base rate, transport, unloading, tax, quotation validity, delivery lead time and required documentation. This converts a collection of sales messages into a procurement decision that can be reviewed.
Also record whether the quotation is from the manufacturer, an authorised dealer, a stockist or another trader. Note whether the offered bars are straight or bent and whether the load meets the supplier’s minimum quantity. The framework works for any brand without turning the decision into a popularity contest.
Grade and Certificate
Compare the precise grade, not vague labels such as “75 grade,” “premium rod” or “earthquake-resistant rod.” Confirm the applicable standard and obtain a sample or current MTC. Check whether the project’s consultant accepts that grade and manufacturer before finalising a large purchase.
If two quotations carry the same nominal grade, compare the traceability and documentation process. A reliable supplier should be able to explain how bundle tags, heat numbers and certificates connect. For more background on product classes, review FAR-MAC STEEL’s guide to types of steel and construction grades.
Landed Cost and Delivery
Convert every offer into a landed price per ton at the project site. Include transport, unloading, handling, taxes and finance costs. Then check delivery lead time and the consequences of a delay. A small rate advantage can disappear if late steel stops reinforcement fabrication or concrete work.
For phased projects, ask whether the seller will hold the price for future deliveries or price each load at dispatch. Clarify how unused or incorrect sizes are handled. The best commercial offer is the one that combines a competitive landed rate with reliable delivery and clear written terms.
Technical Support
Technical support includes help with product selection, documentation, test certificates, complaint handling and delivery coordination. It should not replace the structural consultant, but it can make procurement smoother. Ask who will respond if bundle identification, weight or certification does not match the order.

Buy the Specification, Not Just the Price
The public AKS rod price in Bangladesh today references reviewed on 13 October 2026 ranged from approximately ৳83 to ৳87.50 per kg, or ৳83,000 to ৳87,500 per metric ton. Because the listings were inconsistent, they are not a guaranteed nationwide rate. An independently reported March 2026 market figure placed AKS at around ৳92,500 per ton, proving that timing matters. Before payment, request a fresh written quotation that identifies the grade, diameter mix, quantity, delivery point, tax treatment, unloading responsibility and validity period.
The safer buying process is straightforward: follow the structural specification, compare equivalent offers, calculate landed cost, verify the dealer, inspect tags and markings, match the MTC to the delivered batch and retain all records. If you need a broader steel-market comparison, product guidance or a current quotation for FAR-MAC STEEL products, contact FAR-MAC STEEL with your grade, size, tonnage and delivery location.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is the AKS rod price today?
Public marketplace results reviewed on 13 October 2026 showed AKS TMT B500DWR references of approximately ৳83,000–৳87,500 per metric ton, or ৳83–৳87.50 per kg. The conflicting results are indicative only and can change with stock, location, order size and commercial terms.
For the actual AKS rod price today, ask a verified seller for a dated quotation. Confirm the exact grade, diameter mix, transport, unloading, VAT or tax treatment and quotation validity. Do not make a project budget from an undated social-media post.
2. What is the price of one ton of AKS rod?
Using the dated online range in this guide, the indicative 1 ton rod price in Bangladesh for AKS B500DWR is ৳83,000–৳87,500. One metric ton contains 1,000 kg, so the equivalent range is ৳83–৳87.50 per kg.
The final one-ton cost may be higher when delivery and unloading are added. Small loads can carry a higher transport cost per ton than full-truck orders. Request the delivered price for your exact site rather than assuming the online base rate is the final invoice amount.
3. Is AKS B500DWR suitable for an RCC building?
AKS B500DWR is a high-strength, ductile reinforcing bar grade that may be suitable for an RCC building when it is specified or approved by the structural engineer. It can be used in foundations, columns, beams, slabs and walls according to the approved design and bar schedule.
Suitability depends on more than the brand. The grade, standard, design assumptions, detailing, concrete strength, fabrication and site workmanship must align. Obtain the current MTC and complete any project-required approval or independent testing before use.
4. Does diameter change the AKS price?
It can. Some sellers quote one base rate for a common diameter range, while others apply different conditions based on availability, straight or bent supply, bundle quantity or less common sizes. Delivery efficiency can also change with the selected diameter mix.
Send a diameter-wise schedule when requesting the quotation. List the required quantities for 8 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm, 16 mm, 20 mm or other specified sizes. This produces a more accurate offer than asking only for the general steel rod price.
5. How do I verify the original AKS rod?
Inspect the bundle tag and rolled bar marking, then match the grade, diameter and heat or batch reference with the delivery note and mill test certificate. Check the seller’s identity and retain photographs of the bundles before they are opened.
For project procurement, verify weight, dimensions and documentation through the site quality process. If identification is inconsistent, keep the material separate and contact the seller or manufacturer. Do not rely only on paint, colour, verbal claims or a photocopied certificate.
6. Where can I request a current steel quotation?
For an AKS-specific quotation, contact Abul Khair Steel or a verified AKS dealer and provide the grade, diameter list, tonnage, delivery address and required date. Ask for a formal, dated document showing all included and excluded costs.
For FAR-MAC STEEL products, project steel guidance or a technical comparison, use the FAR-MAC quotation and contact page. Giving complete project information helps the sales team provide a more relevant response.
7. Why does the AKS rate differ from an all rod price list today?
An all rod price list today may mix brands, grades, locations, update dates and delivery conditions. Some lists show mill-gate rates, while others show dealer or delivered prices. A single table can therefore contain numbers that are not directly comparable.
Use a broad list to understand the market, then obtain a brand-specific quotation. FAR-MAC STEEL’s current rod-price pillar provides the wider context, while this guide focuses on AKS procurement.
8. What documents should I request with AKS steel?
Request the formal quotation, invoice, delivery challan, weight record and mill test certificate. For a controlled construction project, you may also need product approval, laboratory test reports, manufacturer information and batch traceability documents.
The required evidence depends on the contract and consultant’s quality plan. Make sure the MTC can be linked to the bundle tags and delivered batch. Documents should support physical verification, not exist as unrelated paperwork.
9. What is EAF in steel, and does it affect AKS rebar?
What is EAF in steel? An Electric Arc Furnace melts ferrous metallic inputs using high-powered electric arcs. The resulting molten steel is refined, cast and rolled into products such as reinforcing bar. Official AKS information states that the company introduced Bangladesh’s first EAF for its steel operation in 2015.
EAF technology can support chemistry control and recycled-metal use, but furnace type alone does not guarantee the delivered bar’s quality. Buyers should still verify the applicable standard, grade, MTC, marking and project acceptance criteria.
10. How can I compare AKS with other construction steel types?
First compare the same grade, standard, diameter mix and delivered quantity. Then review yield strength, ductility, weldability requirements, certificates, traceability, landed cost, delivery lead time and technical response. This is more reliable than choosing the highest-priced or most familiar brand automatically.
To understand types of steel used in construction, review the structural application and engineer’s specification before comparing sellers. Rebar for reinforced concrete, structural steel sections, wire rod, steel beams and fabrication materials serve different purposes and should not be treated as interchangeable products.
